Portraits: Marilyn

I was going around my old DA account when it occurred to me that I haven’t been painting portraits in a while, so I painted this one of Marilyn Monroe for practice. This went through several incarnations before I was satisfied with my initial sketch. Like I said on a previous post, I’m not really very good with likenesses, so excuse me if it doesn’t look exactly like her. I was going for a vintage poster look, and I think I got that effect with the saturation of the skin tones.

P.S. I used a reference photo of Marilyn that I got from this site.
